Course Description

World Mental Health Day takes place on the 10th October and this years theme is ‘Young People and Mental Health In a Changing World’, as set by the World Federation for Mental Health.

Mental health is always a topical issue, and many people worldwide still struggle to manage their own mental health. In fact, the World Health Organisation estimates that 1 in 4 of us will experience a metal health disorder in our lifetime.

The latest edition of Ignite covers strategies to improve your mental health, how to identify mental health issues, and how to help others who you are concerned about, with a particular focus on young people, in line with this year’s Mental Health Week theme.

Psychologist

Joe O'Brien

Joe is a currently completing his doctorate in Health Psychology from LJMU, and is part of the Clinical Mental Health Team. He has an MSc in Health Psychology from the University of Bath, and a BSc in Psychology from Dublin City University. Joe has a background in clinical mental health, with experience in the UK and Ireland. He believes in physical and mental health promotion, and believes they go hand in hand. Joe has a specific interest in the psychology of habit change, workplace health, nutritional psychology and the link between mental and physical health conditions.
